Grain Cart Review

Bourgault 1200

A combine, regardless of its color, is not productive sitting in the field waiting to unload. The unique features of the Bourgault 1200 Grain Cart are designed to increase both efficiency and capacity in your harvesting equipment.  Some of these features include the ability to shuttle up to 1200 bushels of grain, an eight-wheel undercarriage designed to provide a smooth ride and reduce stress on the tractor hitch and unit, and a structural frame truss design to ensure maximum strength. You’ll also find a turret-style unloading auger so grain can be placed accurately even if truck alignment isn’t ideal, a standard unique belt drive system (or hydraulic drive option) to engage the drag auger, and mesh windows so the operator can see how much product is inside.

Brandt GCX 1050

Brandt grain carts like this one are ‘rice-field proven’ with 17-inch ground clearance and heavy main frame tubing (10” x 4”) as well as Walterscheid PTO with a 1 ¾”/20 spindle with combination friction and over-running clutch, and a fully adjustable axle (12” increments 120-152”). Just some patented features you’ll find include a single auger top spring designed to be neater and stronger with no adjusting, a bottom bearing for the auger to take weight off the gearbox, lower drive busing with a stainless steel insert to assist removing the gearbox, and a 3-pin drive collar with a self-aligning double top auger pin designed for a smooth start. Other features include a gravity dump door for pit dumping and cleanout, unloading time of about 2-1/2 minutes (varies with type/quality of grain), an adjustable electrical downspout with remote control, and a 22-foot hopper.

Demco 1050

Demco's 1050 model grain cart is capable of filling a semi trailer in 3 minutes. The model’s structure is designed to hold up under extreme field conditions, even where terrain is less than perfect as well as move fast enough to fill the unloading auger and provides speedy, hassle-free unloading. An 18" auger folds forward for excellent unloading visibility is balanced and driven by an automatic over-running slip clutch PTO shaft designed to protect the gearbox from high torque start-ups and heavy high moisture grain. Some other features include an automatic reset “cut-out” clutch with overrunning clutch to protect the auger drive and tractor PTO, an adjustable auger spout, a grain-viewing window, a transport safety chain, and a hand wheel operated door at the bottom of the auger for easy cleanup.

J&M 1050 20S

J&M Front Folding Grain Carts like this 1050 20S model feature a design allowing 100% visibility of the auger while unloading and equally important 100% visibility during the folding sequence. Engineered with the operator in mind, the upper auger folds toward the tractor cab for a closer and clearer view. A computer-balanced auger (to within one ounce) and direct drive gearbox are designed to reduce stress to the drive system, extending bearing, flighting and tube life from excessive vibration. All J&M grain carts feature a corner sump design and graphite coated interior to make cleaning out chores easier. Some other standard features include a choice of red, green, or blue urethane paint for high quality protection and finish, a hydraulic flow control spout, mounted gauge PTO with slip clutch, and tapered top extensions.

Kinze Corner-Auger 1300

The dual-auger design of Kinze’s externally mounted, forward-angled corner augers provide maximum visibility and reach while the one-piece, horizontal auger is designed to move grain quickly from back to front. The vertical corner auger can pivot up to 10 degrees and features an adjustable spout. A hydraulically adjustable flow-gate allows the operator to control unloading speed and optimize grain flow for various sizes and types of grain. All cart operations can be controlled from the tractor cab.

These grain carts feature a wide variety of tire and track options, designed to reduce soil compaction, like the 1100 and 1300 models with giant 1100/45R46 compaction-reducing tires as well as optional 36-inch wide tracked undercarriage or row crop tire options. All Kinze carts feature a durable powder coat finish and will be available for the 2012 harvest season.

Unverferth X-TREME™ 1115 Grain Cart

Unverferth X-TREME™ grain carts feature a front-folding auger design, made to allow the upper portion to store diagonally along the front of the cart for maximum auger length and easier unloading. The Dyna-Torque auger combines 22"-diameter flighting in the sump area that feeds the 20" auger for unloading speeds of up to 620 bushels per minute. The auger's vortex downspout includes a funnel design with 60° rotation for precisely controlling grain flow without splatter.

The 1115’s upper and lower augers are synchronized and computer balanced for smooth operation, greater dependability and longer life while the 22"-diameter lower auger features reinforced 1/2"-thick Ultra-Edge flighting. Steep sidewalls and front and rear slopes are made to ensure fast and clean unloading. The X-TREME™ 1115 grain cart features a truss-frame design, structural tubular-steel axles and 10-bolt gusseted hubs for smooth trailing and low maintenance. All Unverferth models feature silicone-sealed seams and durable primer undercoat with oven-baked enamel topcoat in red or green.
