March 17, 2024, kicked off National Ag Week, which goes through March 24, and Tuesday, March 19, will be National Agriculture Day. National Ag Day 2024 marks its 51st year in a nationwide effort to remind the world of the impact agriculture has.

“From the food we eat and the fuel for our vehicles, to the fiber in the clothes we wear, and the oil used to make kids’ crayons, agriculture touches everyone in some way,” Agriculture Council of America (ACA) President Jenny Pickett said.

The theme of this year’s National Ag Day is  “Agriculture: Growing a Climate for Tomorrow.” A big part of the day, and the week, will be making students aware of the many benefits of agriculture, and helping people find careers in the industry.

“More and more, students and individuals are finding careers in agriculture. The industry needs scientists, biologists, food safety technicians, livestock nutrition specialists, arborists, conservationists — one doesn’t have to be a farmer or have a direct on-farm job to be involved in the agriculture industry,” Pickett says.

In addition, the National Ag Day program urges all Americans to:

  • Gain insight into the production processes of food, fiber, and fuel products.
  • Recognize and value agriculture's contribution to supplying safe, plentiful, and reasonably priced products.
  • Appreciate the critical role agriculture plays in sustaining a robust economy.
  • Acknowledge and explore career prospects within the agriculture, food, and fiber industry.
