Farm equipment and farmland auctions have been gaining popularity over the last decade for both buying and selling. Today we will introduce you to Enlow Tractor Auction, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With 50-years of experience in the auction industry, Enlow has a proven formula to get the highest dollar for your equipment.

Farmers Hot Line: Let’s say I’m a bidder that is not familiar with your company tell me about yourself.

Josh Enlow: Enlow Tractor Auction is a monthly consignment auction. We just celebrated our 50th year of Enlow family auctions. Our auctions are held the first Wednesday of each month in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We also have on-site auctions to help our customers.

Online auctions vs. In-person bidding—thoughts?

Personally I like an in person auction. However we offer real-time internet bidding at our auctions to accommodate individual buyers and dealers that can not travel to our facilities.

What were your “Top 5” popular pieces of equipment last quarter?

  1. JD 5083E 4wd w/CHA & loader
  2. Howse 15 ½’ Brush cutter
  3. Kubota M9540 4wd w/CHA & loader
  4. Kubota M7040 4wd w/CHA & loader
  5. Kubota L3400 4wd HST w/loader
  6. 72” Howse HD roto-tiller

Do you see any trends in the type of equipment being auctioned or bought?

People continue to want nice, clean equipment with low hours and a warranty when possible. I also think that the buyers continue to be knowledgeable about the product they want to buy. This is mostly due to the internet and site with auction and equipment information like Farmers Hot Line.

What is the highest priced item auctioned in the last quarter?

New Holland 8070 Swather for $88,000.

What is the highest count of one type of equipment in your auctions recently?

I think in May we had 92 compact tractors. We almost always have 50+ compact tractors, but 92 that is a lot of little tractors.

If you could give someone attending an auction one tip what would it be?

Take the time to inspect what you want to bid on before you buy it.

What do you see as the “up & coming” type of equipment?

The newest, latest and greatest is what everyone is always asking for.

How big of a roll does time-of-year play on sales? For example, Spring vs. Fall.

Time of year always plays a role in what takes place at Enlow tractor auction. Every year is differs depending on rain, economy, elections, etc. We do know that April, May, and June are the best three months, and historically January will be the toughest.

Any big upcoming auctions?

I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet, but we are in talks with a customer about having a large machinery auction in the fall.

Anything else you would like to add?

I would just say that the auction business has been really great to the Enlow family for a long time and I hope that the live auction business will still be here for the next generation of Enlow’s.

Also it takes people to believe and support an auction house for it to stay as long as we have been around and I would like to say thank you to all the people that have bought and sold at Enlow’s over the last 50 years!
