National Farm Safety and Health Week 2025 Highlights Safety Across Agriculture
National Farm Safety & Health Week 2025 runs Sept. 21–27, offering webinars and resources to promote safety in agriculture.
National Farm Safety and Health Week (NFSHW) 2025 takes place Sept. 21–27, emphasizing the importance of safety on farms and rural roadways. The week, established by the National Safety Council in 1944 and proclaimed annually by each U.S. president, is led by the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS).
Daily webinars during NFSHW 2025 cover a variety of topics designed to improve safety and health in agricultural operations. Each session is free to attend:
- Monday, Sept. 22 – Equipment and Rural Roadway Safety: Sessions focus on road safety as farmers age and strategies for mitigating risks when farm equipment travels on public highways.
- Tuesday, Sept. 23 – Health and Wellness: Programs include the COMET Community Training on mental and emotional health and strategies for maintaining family farming through resilience.
- Wednesday, Sept. 24 – Generations of Farming: Topics address intergenerational communication and youth safety on farms.
- Thursday, Sept. 25 – Confined Spaces: Webinars cover safe practices in confined agricultural spaces and disaster recovery response planning.
- Friday, Sept. 26 – ATV/UTV Safety: Presentations focus on safe operation of off-road vehicles and managing risks on public roadways.
NFSHW 2025 also highlights grain bin safety, offering instructional videos on avoiding entrapments, performing rescues safely, and developing preventive safety plans. While entering a grain bin is not recommended, resources provide guidance on precautions if entry is necessary.
According to 2022 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, agriculture remains one of the most hazardous sectors, with 417 fatalities reported. Fall harvest, in particular, is a high-risk period for farm workers, making education and preventive measures essential.
Sponsors including Nationwide and CHS Growmark support NFSHW by providing educational materials and resources to farmers and agricultural communities.
