Shurco Introduces SMARTrailer Electric Systems for Hopper Bottom Trailers

Shurco has introduced SMARTrailer electric systems, a configurable automation platform for hopper bottom trailers used in grain and dry bulk operations.

Announced February 11 from Yankton, South Dakota, the system allows operators and fleets to select electric tarp systems, hopper door openers, wireless remotes and accessories based on their operational needs.

What SMARTrailer Systems Include

SMARTrailer systems are designed around a four-step selection process. Operators choose components individually rather than purchasing a preconfigured electric package.

Step 1: Electric Roll Tarp System

Available tarp options include:

• Shur-Lok E-Series – Fully pre-assembled for faster installation
• 4500 HD – Heavy-duty system with two-way remote communication and real-time position feedback

These systems are designed for corrosion resistance and long-term use in agricultural conditions.

Step 2: Electric Hopper Door Opener

Available hopper door openers include:

• AutoTrap – Lightweight design with higher ground clearance
• ProTrap – Heavy-duty construction with multiple torque options and automatic mid-stop capabilities

Both options feature sealed wiring, flexible mounting and manual backup operation.

Step 3: Remote Control Options

Remote control choices range from basic to advanced:

• EZR Remote – Compact and cost-effective
• PRO Remote – Two-way communication, color display and customizable settings
• ShurLink App – Mobile device access for system setup, torque adjustments and firmware updates

All components operate on a unified wireless control platform.

Step 4: Electric Accessories

Optional accessories integrate into the same wireless system, including:

• DriveMaxx Auger Hopper Drive
• LiteALL LED Work Lights
