USDA Awards $531 Million to Georgia Farmers
Funding Helps Farm Owners Recover from Hurricane
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will provide $531 million in recovery assistance to Georgia producers affected by Hurricane Helene, according to Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins.
The funding, issued through a block grant agreement with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, is intended to help cover agricultural, infrastructure and timber losses tied to the 2024 storm.
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper said the grant will support farmers and ranchers who suffered significant setbacks following the hurricane. The grant is part of the broader $30 billion disaster assistance package authorized under the American Relief Act of 2025.
USDA is working with 14 states on similar block grant programs to address region-specific recovery needs. Additional details about Georgia’s program will be made available once the agreement is finalized.
