USDA Guarantees $24.6M Loan for Texas Beef Plant
A USDA-backed $24.6 million loan will support a beef processing facility in Dimmitt, Texas, expected to process 400 cattle daily.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is supporting construction of a locally owned, USDA-inspected beef processing facility in Dimmitt, Texas, through its Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program.
Vice President J.D. Vance announced the investment October 29, 2026. The project is backed by a $24.6 million commercial loan and is expected to create 220 jobs. Once operational, the facility is expected to process approximately 400 head of cattle per day.
“President Trump and Vice President Vance have been steadfast in their support of ranchers and small businesses who are working to rebuild our Great American Cattle Herd. That’s why we are so pleased to have Vice President Vance announce USDA’s newest investment in a locally owned beef processing facility right here in West Texas,” said Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins. “This new facility will process 400 head of cattle a day, and create 220 new jobs in the great Texas community of Dimmitt.”
Local Investors Lead Processing Project
The project was initiated by 36 local investors involved in raising cattle throughout the Texas Panhandle. Their goal is to establish an alternative to major national meat-processing companies and support more competitive beef prices.
The facility is expected to provide 220 jobs with an average wage of $30 per hour. The project is intended to strengthen the regional economy and provide additional support for area cattle producers.
