John Deere has expanded its C-Series air cart lineup with the introduction of the C1450T, a new high-capacity air cart designed to help farmers cover more acres between refills during narrow seeding windows.

Announced July 21, the C1450T builds on the existing C-Series platform by combining increased capacity with the same precision agriculture technologies available on other C-Series carts, including AccuRate metering, the EZCal™calibration system and integration with the John Deere Operations Center.

According to John Deere, the new model is designed for larger farming operations looking to improve productivity while reducing downtime for refilling.

“Seeding windows continue to get tighter, and farmers are looking for ways to cover more ground without adding complexity,” said Benjamin Zelle, John Deere marketing manager for seeders and planters. “The C1450T is built to help them scale their operation with increased capacity, so they can stay productive and make the most of every available hour in the field.”

The C1450T introduces several features aimed at increasing efficiency during planting and seeding operations.

A new 105-bushel Flex Tank provides additional capacity and can now be filled with fertilizer or seed, rather than being limited to products such as canola or inoculant. The air cart also adds a fifth tank, giving operators more flexibility to carry up to five different products and blend fertilizer directly on the cart.

To simplify refilling, the C1450T includes a new EZLift system, which allows operators to lift bulk bags into tanks one through three from the ground, trailers, truck beds or storage platforms. A side storage platform provides additional space for bulk bags.

John Deere also equipped the cart with a new 16-inch hydraulic conveyor, designed to speed product loading while providing increased clearance around the rear tires. The conveyor features a stainless-steel hopper to reduce maintenance requirements. In addition, the front platform has been redesigned with walk-over stairs to improve access across the hitch.

Precision Seeding Technology

Like other C-Series air carts, the C1450T includes AccuRate meters, which are constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and are designed for use with abrasive fertilizers and treated seed.

The individually controlled electric meters support higher-resolution prescriptions and are compatible with Curve Compensation and SectionCommand Pro.

John Deere said the system provides up to eight times more precision during seeding compared to a setup using an eight-primary-run air cart and an 80-foot air seeder, improving prescription zones from 80 feet to 10 feet.*

The air cart also features the company's EZCal calibration system, which allows operators to calibrate the cart using a push-button process rather than traditional manual bag calibration methods.

“The C1450T combines increased capacity with the precision technologies farmers depend on every day,” Zelle said. “Features like the ActiveCal system give operators real-time visibility into product levels and application performance, helping them make in-field adjustments and maintain accuracy without slowing down.”

Operations Center Integration

The C1450T integrates with the John Deere Operations Center to provide logistics information for operators using multi-tank air seeders equipped with a G5 or G5Plus CommandCenter display and a G5 Advanced license.

The Logistics feature estimates both the remaining area that can be seeded and the time until the air cart requires refilling. According to John Deere, the information is intended to help operators and tenders better coordinate refills during both flat-rate and variable-rate applications.

Precision Upgrades for Existing Equipment

John Deere also announced that several precision technologies are available as upgrades for existing air seeding equipment.

The AccuRate metering system is compatible with John Deere 1910 air carts with two- and three-tank configurations, as well as existing C650 and C850 air carts.

The EZCal system can also be installed on compatible equipment, allowing operators to calibrate meters while tendering.

Another available upgrade is the RelativeFlow Blockage system, which monitors row-level product flow and provides in-cab alerts when blockages occur. According to John Deere, the system is intended to help maintain consistent product flow across the implement and reduce skips that can affect crop emergence.

The C1450T is the newest addition to John Deere's C-Series air cart lineup and is designed to provide increased capacity alongside the company's existing precision agriculture technologies for seeding operations.

*Based on seeding with an eight-primary-run air cart and an 80-foot (24-meter) air seeder. John Deere states prescription zones improve from 80 feet (24 meters) to 10 feet (3 meters).
